West Village Family

For this 4,500 square foot triplex (complete with a 7-member family living in it), we aimed to deliver a family-friendly, contemporary yet comfortable interior. Before renovating, the home had a highly accessorized, traditional vibe with a fair amount of wasted space. We took advantage of the modern architecture and high ceilings to create a dramatic but serene new look. We added a glistening chandelier and wall wash lighting to the living room, created definition in the windowless family room with paneling, vibrant colors, wallpaper, and cove lighting, and installed elegant yet durable furnishings.

We also undertook to utilize previously unused nooks and crannies, including transforming a hallway into a kids’ bunk area and changing an unused wet bar into a custom toy cabinet. The result was a simple, sparsely accessorized yet stylishand light-filled space.
